Overview & Functioning


According to Bombay Municipal Provincial Corporation Act 1949, article 66 (21)(42), Secondary and technical education is an optional duty of Pune Municipal Corporation. Pune Municipal Corporation established its first secondary school in 1953 for the 35% population of slums, financially weak, educationally backward children and children of migrated families in Pune.

Today there are Forty high schools and one night senior college running successfully. These 40 high schools includes 19 Marathi medium high schools, (03 junior colleges), 04 Urdu Medium High schools (02 Urdu science junior college for girls), one Marathi medium night high school, one Industrial Training institute (ITI) and one Technical School. Pune Municipal Corporation is running 15 English medium and 02 Marathi medium high schools in collaboration with non government organization (NGO). Recently Pune Municipal Corporation has initiated one night senior college of Arts & Commerce streams in collaboration with non government organization (NGO).

Pune Municipal Corporation has started National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) under central government’s composite Shiksha Abhiyan (CSA) scheme in some selected high schools. In this scheme student can opt for vocational subject like Multiskill foundation course, retail, Banking & finance, Tourism, Agriculture and Automobile instead of Hindi and Social science.

Our services aims at upliftment of the weaker section of the society. We assure to provide high standard facilities which will surely help students for their all round development. Our departmental services are as follows.

  • Free text books for standard V to VIII from S.S.A. scheme

  • Dual targeted syllabus for standard XI and XII at Rajiv Gandhi Academy of e-learning
  • Shardabai Pawar Scholarship of Rs. 51,000/- for student of standard X and XII acquiring percentage 85.00% and 80.00% respectively
  • National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) is commenced in some selected high school
  • Educational Excursions are conducted
  • Free Pune Darshan Picnic for students

  • Activities Conducted Through Corporate Social Responsibility (C.S.R)
